We recommend getting plenty of rest before the session and bringing comfortable clothing and any personal items that help you feel at ease. Your therapist will provide a full guide on what to expect and how to prepare in advance.
  • How long are the EMDR Intensive sessions?
We offer different options, including 4-hour, 8-hour (over two days), and 16-hour (over three days) sessions. Each session type provides a focused amount of time tailored to the client's needs and healing goals.
  • Where are EMDR Intensives held, and are accommodations provided?
Our 4-hour session is available at Glen Eden, your home or online, the 8-hour and 16-hour intensives are available in Glen Eden, with optional accommodations for these sessions. For clients joining from a distance, accommodations provide a supportive, immersive environment during the healing process.
  • What types of trauma or issues can EMDR Intensive sessions help with?
EMDR is commonly used to treat PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and distressing memories from a range of situations, such as accidents, abuse, and grief. It is also effective for people who feel ‘stuck’ in their healing journey.
  • How does an EMDR Intensive differ from regular therapy sessions?
An EMDR Intensive provides extended sessions over a short period, allowing for in-depth processing without the weekly gaps typical in traditional therapy. This can lead to faster breakthroughs and is ideal for individuals looking for focused, concentrated healing.
  • What is EMDR therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps people recover from trauma and distressing life experiences. It works by using bilateral stimulation, often through guided eye movements, to process traumatic memories and reduce their emotional impact.
  • Who is eligible for EMDR Intensive sessions?
While the 4-hour option is for existing clients only, new clients can access the 8-hour and 16-hour intensives. Suitability will be discussed during an initial assessment to ensure EMDR is the best approach for each individual.
  • Is EMDR Intensive therapy safe for everyone?
EMDR is generally safe but may not be suitable for everyone. Your therapist will conduct a thorough assessment to ensure that EMDR is appropriate, discussing any potential concerns or alternative approaches based on individual needs.
  • What can I expect during an EMDR Intensive?
The sessions involve structured phases, including history-taking, preparation, and reprocessing of traumatic memories. This approach is designed to help individuals process difficult experiences and gain insight and relief quickly.
  • How quickly can I expect to see results from EMDR Intensive therapy?
Many clients report feeling a significant reduction in distress after just one intensive. However, everyone’s healing journey is unique, and some may need additional sessions for deeper issues or complex trauma.
